Welcome to the Eccentric Upcyclist

Hello there! I'm Stevyn.

Or Steve if you like.

I'm an artist and sculptor. I paint, I draw, and I make things from clay and wood.

But I specialise in creating art from the things that people throw away, like some kind of a Womble.

I grew up in Cornwall during the 1960s and 1970s and I was surrounded by talented artists, including my own father. I was often to be found hanging out in galleries or artists' studios and I even got to meet Dame Barbara Hepworth when I was 11. I would comb the beaches for interestingly-shaped pieces of driftwood and other detritus. My first art sales were to tourists who liked the driftwood-decorated picture frames I made.

I was also lucky to have had a succession of inspirational art teachers, most of whom I stayed in contact with for the rest of their lives.

You can always identify my work - apart from me signing it somewhere unobtrusive, there will always be a Cornish pasty present. I'm proud of my heritage and the 'pasty mark' is my personal badge of authenticity.

There isn't much I won't make art from, although I do prefer to work with materials that deserve a second life. I am committed to reducing waste and the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill.

Your garbage = my art materials.

So whether it's a small private commission, a shop window display, or a public sculpture I can turn your trash into treasure.

What better way to advertise your company's commitment to reducing waste than by upcycling it into art?

Give your trash some love.
